Royal Air Maroc Adds Thales Flight Software as 2037 Fleet Expansion Takes Shape
Royal Air Maroc will adopt Thales flight-management software as it prepares to expand its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.

Royal Air Maroc is introducing a new digital flight-management system from Thales as the Moroccan carrier prepares for a major expansion that could take its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.
The agreement will give the airline access to AvioBook Flight, an Electronic Flight Bag platform developed by AvioBook, a company within the Thales Group. The software is designed to assist crews and operational teams with tasks carried out before departure, while an aircraft is in flight and after it reaches its destination.
Thales said the technology connects flight-operation functions with systems used by teams on the ground. The company expects the platform to help Royal Air Maroc improve compliance processes, strengthen the resilience of its technology operations, address aviation safety risks and shorten the time aircraft spend being prepared between flights.
The software is already used by 70 airlines worldwide, according to Thales. AvioBook chief executive Frédéric Dru said the company sees Royal Air Maroc's planned growth as an opportunity to place digital technology more deeply within the airline's future operations. His comments tied the new system directly to the carrier's expansion plans rather than presenting it as a standalone technology purchase.
The latest contract builds on an existing relationship between Royal Air Maroc and Thales. Their previous areas of cooperation have included aircraft entertainment systems, maintenance services and cybersecurity. The new arrangement extends that relationship into software supporting day-to-day flight operations.
Thales Morocco chief executive Yan Levy said the partnership also fits into the company's broader involvement in Morocco's aviation industry. He linked the deployment to Royal Air Maroc's planned growth and to efforts to improve competitiveness, operational performance and sustainability through technology.
The announcement coincided with the Marrakech Airshow 2026, which ran from October 7 to 10 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base in Marrakech. Thales participated in the eighth edition of the event, where it presented technology covering commercial aviation, defence, cybersecurity and other digital applications while meeting Moroccan customers and industry partners.
Thales said its presence at the airshow formed part of its continuing involvement in Morocco's aerospace sector. For Royal Air Maroc, the immediate focus of the new agreement is the introduction of a digital platform intended to support a larger and more complex flight operation as the airline works towards its long-term fleet target.
