Police officers were deployed to the DKK area of Ajah, Lagos State, after a man identified simply as Biola was killed in what a police source described as a suspected cult-related attack.

The incident occurred on Sunday, according to the source, who said officers found Biola's remains beside the road after receiving a report about the killing. The source said he had gunshot injuries around his neck and machete wounds on other parts of his body. His left hand had also been severed.

The body was removed from the scene and taken to a morgue, the police source said.

A video circulated by a platform called Naija Confra and reviewed by PUNCH reportedly showed Biola speaking with unidentified men shortly before his death. The platform alleged that he identified himself as belonging to the Eiye confraternity and claimed the men were suspected members of a rival group posing as members of the same confraternity.

Naija Confra further alleged that the men shot Biola and mutilated his body before leaving when people began gathering in the area. These claims were attributed to the platform and were not confirmed by the Lagos State Police spokesperson in the report.

When contacted on Tuesday, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi said she was not aware of the incident at the time and indicated that she would make further enquiries.

The killing was reported days after another suspected cult-related attack in the Ibeju-Lekki area, where National Union of Road Transport Workers member Kamoru Omokoye was reportedly shot dead at Abijo Bus Stop.
