The Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State has started mobilising supporters for Samben Nwosu ahead of the 2027 contest for the Anambra South senatorial seat.

The campaign activity included a road walk held during the weekend around Jideofor Hotel in Nnewi, where party leaders and supporters gathered. Nwosu was also formally presented with the PDP flag at the event.

Senior party figures in attendance included Anambra PDP chairman Casmir Ajulu, Deputy National Legal Adviser Chinemelum Ubah, state secretary Sir Sunny Umenne and Victor Uba, who serves as the party's vice chairman and Anambra South chairman.

Ajulu expressed confidence that the PDP could secure victories in the 2027 elections. As part of his argument, he referred to the outcome of National Assembly contests in Anambra during the 2023 general elections and the later bye-election held after the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Chinemelum Ubah called on the party's seven local government chairmen in Anambra South, along with ward executives, to return to their areas and mobilise support for Nwosu. He also urged supporters to participate in the election and protect their votes.

Victor Uba said the party structure in the senatorial district was prepared to work for Nwosu's candidacy.

Addressing supporters, Nwosu thanked party members for backing his campaign. He said his candidacy would focus on trust, competence and quality representation rather than material inducements.

The gathering marked an early phase of the PDP's effort to organise its Anambra South structures around Nwosu before the 2027 general elections.
