Oke Sefu Residents Urge Ogun Government to Repair Access Road
Residents of Oke Sefu in Ibafo, Ogun State, are asking the state government to rehabilitate their access road, saying flooding, potholes and slippery sections are making travel harder and increasing transport costs, particularly during the rainy season.

Residents of Oke Sefu community in the Ibafo area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area have appealed to the Ogun State Government to improve their access road, which they say has become increasingly difficult to use.
The state government acknowledged wider concerns about road conditions but said available resources determine which projects can be undertaken at any given time. Commissioner for Information and Strategy Kayode Akinmade said road works had already been carried out in parts of Ibafo, Mowe and other areas within the local government.
People living and working in Oke Sefu said the situation becomes worse during rainfall, when water collects on parts of the route and some sections become slippery. Residents and commercial motorcycle riders also complained about potholes and the difficulty of moving through the area safely.
One motorcycle rider, identified as Adeola, said riders sometimes take longer alternative routes to avoid waterlogged sections. He estimated that trips previously completed in about seven to 10 minutes could now take roughly 10 to 15 minutes, adding that the detours also increase fuel use.
Another rider, Usman Sanni, said the road creates difficulties for both motorcycle operators and their passengers. He said riders have raised concerns about the route for some time and described slippery sections as a particular risk during the rainy season.
Resident Abigail Damilola also appealed for rehabilitation, saying rainfall makes movement especially uncomfortable and difficult. She raised concern about the impact of the rough journey on residents, including pregnant women and people travelling to work in the area.
Folasade Anike, another resident, asked the government to address the community's electricity supply alongside the road problem, describing power in the area as unstable.
Akinmade said the government cannot repair every road at the same time and must select projects according to available revenue. He added that further road projects had recently been approved, including some within Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, and said the concerns raised by residents would receive attention.
