Nine Killed in Delta Line Bus Crash on Ore-Ijebu-Ode Highway
Nine people died after a Delta Line passenger bus collided with a gas-laden truck on the Ore-Ijebu-Ode Highway in Ogun State. The FRSC said a preliminary assessment pointed to excessive speed, while rain had left the road surface wet at the time of the crash.

Nine people were killed in a collision involving a Delta Line passenger bus and a truck carrying gas on the Ore-Ijebu-Ode Highway in Ogun State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps said the crash happened at about 4:55 pm on Monday around the Bethel area, which falls under its Ijebu-Ode Unit Command.
According to the agency, the vehicles involved were a white Toyota Hiace operated by Delta Line and a white Sino truck owned by Bill Gas Solution Ltd. Everyone travelling in the two vehicles was confirmed dead at the scene.
Afolabi Odunsi, the FRSC's Public Education Officer for the Ogun State Sector Command, said a preliminary investigation identified speeding as the likely cause of the collision. He also said it was raining at the time and the road surface was wet.
FRSC personnel reached the scene at about 4:58 pm, shortly after receiving an emergency call. The victims' bodies were taken to the General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode.
The damaged vehicles were later removed from the highway and taken to Ilese Police Station by the police motor traffic unit in Ilese.
Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi urged drivers, especially operators of commercial vehicles, to take extra care during rainfall. He advised motorists to keep within speed limits, maintain enough distance from other vehicles and avoid risky driving.
The FRSC said wet roads can reduce tyre grip and visibility, increasing the danger associated with excessive speed. The agency also expressed sympathy to the families of those who died.
