Nigerian Equities Add ₦5.37tn in September as CMFC Tops Gainers
The Nigerian equities market added ₦5.366tn in value during September, with the All-Share Index advancing 2.87%. Critical Minerals Financing Corporation led listed gainers with a 55.96% average increase, ahead of UPDC REIT and Zichis Agro Allied Industry.

Nigeria’s equities market gained ₦5.366tn in September as share prices advanced across several listed companies, according to trading figures cited from the Nigerian Exchange.
Total market capitalisation moved from ₦157.739tn at the start of the period to ₦163.105tn by month-end, representing a 3.40% increase. The All-Share Index also advanced from 244,199.39 points to 251,211.67 points, a rise of 2.87%.
Critical Minerals Financing Corporation Plc recorded the strongest average share-price increase during the month at 55.96%.
UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust followed with a 45.42% gain, while Zichis Agro Allied Industry rose 36.77%. Nigerian Exchange Group gained 35.68%, and Seplat Energy increased by 29.9%.
Other companies among the leading gainers were VFD Group, up 28.89%; ABC Transport, 28.57%; Eterna, 22.91%; Royal Exchange Assurance, 19.79%; and Consolidated Hallmark Insurance, 18.47%.
CMFC recorded 4,895 transactions involving 253.25 million shares worth ₦700.118m during September. Its market value moved above ₦11.10bn, while the increase in its share price generated ₦3.98bn in capital gains for shareholders, according to the report.
The month also produced losses for some listed companies. International Energy Insurance recorded the steepest decline at 20.21%, followed by Chams Plc at 20.05%, Austin Laz at 19.12% and Tripple Gee and Company at 19.10%.
Transcorp Power, Regency Alliance Insurance, Industrial and Medical Gases Plc, Academy Press, Haldane McCall and University Press were also listed among notable decliners.
The report also linked CMFC’s September performance with the recognition of its President and Co-Chief Executive Officer, Dr Israel Ovirih, at the BusinessDay Top 25 CEOs Awards. The awards were organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Exchange.
BusinessDay Media Chief Executive Officer Frank Aigbogun said the 2026 awards assessed corporate leadership and performance during the 2025 financial year.
NGX Chief Executive Officer Jude Chiemeka said recipients were selected using measures covering corporate governance and performance.
Ovirih said CMFC intends to support the formalisation and financing of mining activities across African markets over the coming years.
