NBBF election nominations close October 8 as Abuja congress approaches
The NBBF Electoral Committee says nomination forms must be submitted by 2pm on October 8 ahead of the October 15 board election.

Candidates seeking positions on the Nigeria Basketball Federation board have until 2pm on Thursday, October 8, to submit their nomination forms, according to the federation's Electoral Committee. Committee chairman Dr Lanre Glover said the deadline would be strictly enforced as preparations continue for the election of a new NBBF board.
Glover said the submission date and time form an important part of the rules governing the electoral process. He urged all candidates to comply, making clear that the committee does not intend to accept nominations from anyone who misses the deadline. The committee has already published a timetable covering the stages leading to the election.
Under that timetable, the nomination process opened on September 30. After submissions close on October 8, the committee is scheduled to publish the list of qualified candidates on October 10. The process will then move to the elective congress in Abuja on October 15, which is scheduled to begin at 9am. The congress will produce a new board responsible for overseeing the administration of basketball in Nigeria.
The Electoral Committee was approved during an Extraordinary Congress of the NBBF held in Yola, Adamawa State. According to the information released, 39 of the 44 delegates who attended the congress supported the committee, which includes professionals, technocrats and sports administrators.
Alongside Glover, the committee includes Sr Femi Olugbile, Alhaji Sani Fema, Engr Priscilla Ngozi Iroaganachi, Major General David Lubo, Mallam Farouk Yarima and Barrister Ichene Kalu, who serves as secretary. Glover said the committee is working toward an orderly electoral process as the October 15 congress draws closer.
The immediate next step is therefore the close of nominations on October 8, followed two days later by publication of the candidates who have qualified to proceed. With the congress scheduled one week after the nomination deadline, the timetable gives the committee a defined sequence for completing preparations before voting takes place in Abuja.
