Lagos leads with 7,488,633 registered voters, while Kano has 6,570,276 and Kaduna follows with 4,662,640. Katsina occupies fourth position with 3,876,051 voters, ahead of Rivers with 3,736,434. Oyo has 3,588,111 registered voters and Delta has 3,525,988. Benue, Ogun and Bauchi complete the top 10 with 3,057,225, 3,037,981 and 3,012,547 voters respectively. The updated state figures follow the completion of three phases of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise. INEC recorded 2,611,266 registrations during the first phase, which ran from August 25 to December 10, 2025. A second phase between January 5 and April 17, 2026 produced 4,121,835 registrations, while the third phase, conducted from May 11 to July 26, recorded 3,867,997. Nationwide registration subsequently closed on July 26. [Nairametrics](https://nairametrics.com/2026/10/06/lagos-kano-kaduna-top-nigerias-voter-register-ahead-of-2027/)
The commission has also warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website claiming that another nationwide online voter-registration exercise had begun. INEC maintained that the 2026 nationwide registration process had already concluded, making official commission channels important for voters seeking information about registration and election arrangements. The voter-register update comes as preparations advance for the 2027 general elections. Under INEC’s current calendar, presidential and National Assembly voting is scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are listed for February 6. The official INEC election calendar currently reflects those dates. [INEC Nigeria](https://inecnigeria.org/elections/calendar?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
The commission had earlier announced later dates for the elections before revising the timetable. With registration completed and the state-by-state voter figures now outlined, the size of the electorate in Lagos, Kano and Kaduna places the three states at the top of the register as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 polls.
