Two recovered vehicles have been returned to their owners by police in Kano after documentation checks confirmed the claims of ownership. The items were an orange Vibe car and an ash-coloured Haojue motorcycle.

The handover took place at the Kano State Police Command headquarters in Bompai. Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday. According to the command, the car and motorcycle had earlier been located through operations driven by intelligence before the owners were invited to complete the required verification process.

Police said ownership documents were examined before either property was released. The recipients subsequently thanked officers involved in the recoveries and described the return of their belongings as an example of responsive policing. Their comments were presented by the command as part of its statement on the handover.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori also congratulated the owners. He connected the recoveries and subsequent return of the properties with the policing priorities associated with Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. Bakori said those priorities include protecting people and property, returning recovered belongings to crime victims and improving confidence in law enforcement through accountable service.

The commissioner said the Kano command intends to continue returning stolen items recovered during police operations once legitimate ownership has been established. He also restated the command's commitment to security across Kano State.

Members of the public who believe police may have recovered property belonging to them were advised to seek information through the command. The statement provided the investigating officer's telephone number, 08140081608, and also directed interested residents to the Police Public Relations Officer's office at the Bompai headquarters.

The source did not state when the car and motorcycle were originally stolen, identify the owners by name or provide details about any suspects linked to the thefts. It also did not disclose whether arrests had been made in connection with the recovered property.
