Iwenjiora Pitches Ward-Based Development Plan in Abia House Race
Evangeline Iwenjiora, the NDC candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, says she would prioritise healthcare, education, agriculture, roads and youth enterprise if elected in 2027, with constituency resources directed towards needs identified across the area's 22 wards.

Evangeline Iwenjiora, who is seeking the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has outlined a development plan built around projects tailored to individual communities.
Iwenjiora said the constituency's 22 wards have different infrastructure and economic needs and proposed directing constituency resources towards priorities identified within each ward. Among the projects she mentioned were repairs to schools, health facilities and markets, as well as solar lighting and assistance for small businesses.
Youth empowerment is another part of her campaign proposal. Rather than concentrating support on distributing tricycles and motorcycles, she said she would favour grants that could help young people establish businesses capable of providing longer-term income.
Her stated priorities also include agriculture and rural roads. Iwenjiora pointed to conditions on the Acha road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, arguing that poor access has made it more difficult for farmers to move produce and for buyers to reach communities in the area.
She also raised concerns about healthcare and electricity in parts of Umunneochi. According to Iwenjiora, some residents face inadequate power supply and limited medical support, including during childbirth.
The candidate said concerns over employment opportunities, infrastructure and previous constituency interventions influenced her decision to enter the race. Her criticism of earlier representation remains her own assessment of conditions in the constituency.
Iwenjiora also expressed support for Peter Obi, identified in the source as the NDC presidential candidate, and said she believes he can address Nigeria's economic challenges.
Her campaign promises remain proposals ahead of the 2027 general election and would depend on her election and subsequent implementation.
