Bayelsa PDP Sets November 23 for LGA Campaign Tour Ahead of 2027 Polls
Bayelsa PDP will begin an LGA-by-LGA campaign on November 23 before extending mobilisation to all 105 wards ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has scheduled November 23 for the start of its local government campaign tour as it prepares for the 2027 general elections, with subsequent mobilisation planned across the state's 105 wards.
A campaign timetable signed by the party's State Publicity Secretary, Ikaebimo Mark, outlines a series of organisational and campaign activities beginning in late October. Meetings involving the State Working Committee, Expanded State Caucus and State Executive Committee are scheduled to take place from October 26 to 28.
Religious activities are also included in the programme. The party plans three days of fasting, prayer and a solemn assembly from November 5 to 7, followed by a dedication and thanksgiving service on November 8. Its State Campaign Council is due to be inaugurated the next day, November 9.
Campaign flag-offs across Bayelsa's senatorial districts are scheduled for November 17, November 19 and November 21. Two days after the final senatorial event, the PDP plans to begin moving through the state's local government areas before expanding its mobilisation effort to communities in all 105 wards.
The party said the structure is intended to give its candidates opportunities to interact directly with residents and explain their proposed programmes. It also said its campaign would concentrate on issues affecting communities, including development priorities and residents' welfare, rather than personal attacks or inflammatory language.
Bayelsa PDP, led in the state by Chief Alabh Turnah, has also pledged to conduct its campaign activities peacefully and within the law. Candidates, supporters and campaign officials have been asked to act responsibly, maintain discipline and show tolerance toward other parties and participants in the electoral process.
The party further called for the 2027 election period to focus on constructive political engagement. It said voters should be able to assess candidates through their ideas, programmes, records and proposed responses to public concerns.
According to the PDP, extending mobilisation to ward level is intended to ensure communities across Bayelsa are included in its campaign activities. The timetable therefore combines internal party preparations, senatorial events and local-level outreach before the wider 2027 electoral contest.
