Bayelsa State has reaffirmed its willingness to work with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board ahead of the 15th Practical Nigerian Content Forum in Yenagoa. The 2026 edition is scheduled to begin on November 30, with organisers introducing programmes aimed at young people, community contractors and wider discussions on the future of Nigerian content development.

The plans were discussed when representatives of the NCDMB and DMG Events met Bayelsa Deputy Governor Dr Peter Pereotubo Akpe at Government House in Yenagoa. NCDMB General Manager for Corporate Communications Dr Obinna Ezeobi led the delegation and conveyed appreciation from the board's Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, for Bayelsa's role in supporting previous editions of the gathering.

A major part of the 2026 programme will focus on young people from the Niger Delta. Ezeobi said the Youth PNC initiative is designed to expose participants to emerging opportunities in the oil and gas industry while helping them understand competencies that can also support careers in other sectors. NCDMB Senior Manager for Zonal Coordination Adebayo Joseph provided additional details on plans for the youth programme.

DMG Events delegation leader Olamide Oloko said organisers are also introducing a Local Content Roundtable and a two-day programme for Local Community Contractors. The contractor-focused sessions are intended to help participating businesses strengthen and expand their operations. Another planned breakout session will gather stakeholder views on how Nigerian content development should evolve over the next decade.

Akpe said the Bayelsa Government would work with the organisers toward a successful event and assured participants of a suitable and secure environment during their stay in the state. He also encouraged the NCDMB to sustain programmes that create opportunities for young people across the Niger Delta.

The planned activities expand the forum beyond its central industry discussions by giving specific attention to youth development, community-based businesses and longer-term local content priorities. The meeting in Yenagoa also reflects the established working relationship between Bayelsa, the NCDMB and the event organisers as preparations continue for the November gathering.
