Awka Club Names Cyril Okoye Patron Over Community Support

Chief Cyril Okoye has been appointed Patron of Unique Fellows All Nations Club, Awka, following recognition by the organisation for his humanitarian and community-focused activities.

Okoye is the Executive Chairman of Grape Tree International Limited, the company behind Diplomat Toothpaste. He is from Adazi-Ani in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The club said it selected him for the position because of his philanthropic activities and efforts aimed at improving people's welfare within his community and elsewhere.

The recognition was presented during the club's investiture ceremony at the ASUU Secretariat of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka. The same event marked the installation of Sir Gabriel Moneke as the seventh Mayor of the organisation.

After receiving the honour, Okoye thanked the club and expressed support for Moneke and the new executive team as they begin a three-year leadership term.

Okoye said he had previously received recognition for charitable work but considered the latest honour significant because the organisation includes professionals from different sectors.

He also said he would continue supporting initiatives intended to improve people's lives and encouraged Nigerians with sufficient resources to contribute to national and community development regardless of ethnic, religious or regional differences.
