2 Division Commander Warns Troops at New Oyo, Osun Army Units
Maj. Gen. Auwalu Mahmuda has told soldiers assigned to newly created formations in Oyo and Osun states to maintain discipline and professional standards. The 2 Division commander made the remarks while inspecting the new 7 Brigade headquarters and 137 Battalion.

Soldiers posted to newly created Nigerian Army formations in Oyo and Osun states have been directed to maintain professional conduct as the units begin settling into their locations.
Maj. Gen. Auwalu Mahmuda, commander of the Army's 2 Division, delivered the message while visiting the new 7 Brigade headquarters in Oyo and the 137 Battalion at Ile-Ife in Osun State. The inspection was aimed at assessing the locations and supporting the establishment of the formations.
Details of the visit were released by Lt. Col. Jonah Danjuma, the division's acting spokesperson. He said Mahmuda instructed personnel to remain alert, disciplined and conscious of how their behaviour reflects on the Army.
The commander also stressed the importance of maintaining good relations with people in the host communities. He warned that misconduct would not be tolerated and reminded personnel of the professional standards expected by Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu.
Mahmuda said the creation of additional formations and units is intended to improve the Army's response to current security challenges. He also referred to efforts to improve troop welfare and urged soldiers to match that support with commitment to their duties.
At Ile-Ife, the commander was received by Lt. Col. Christopher Okwujiako, who heads the 137 Battalion. Community representatives led by Sooko Adegboyega Ogunwusi, the Sooko Laukun of Ife, also welcomed the establishment of the battalion in the area.
The visit formed part of an assessment of the new locations as personnel prepare to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
